This past Saturday, May 18th, the Argyle community came together for the third annual Argyle Carry the Load Rally. The event, which began at 8 a.m. and concluded around noon, united participants in a powerful display of support and remembrance for our fallen heroes.
Rally Recap
The day started early at the Argyle Fire Station. By 5:45 a.m., preparations were underway with tents and memory boards set up to honor past recipients. By 7:20 a.m., over 150 participants had gathered at the church, the starting point of the rally. The scene was filled with fire trucks, ambulances, and numerous police officers and firefighters from Denton County and Irving PD, many dressed in full gear, ready to join the walk.
Approximately 300 people participated in the walk, with many joining along the route, increasing the sense of community and solidarity. A poignant stop was made at the Mark Weber Memorial to pay respects before continuing to Marty B’s in Bartonville for a breakfast taco break.
Community Support
The support from the community was overwhelming. Families lined the route, cheering participants on and handing out water. T Rock Roofing generously donated hundreds of cases of water, ensuring everyone stayed hydrated. Radical Hospitality provided hot dogs and hamburgers, and Marty B’s supplied breakfast tacos. Raising Cane’s contributed rally towels, adding to the unity of the group.
The Spirit Squad
This year’s rally saw significant participation from Spirit of a Hero recipients, including Brian Aft and Andy Allison. Gabby Carnell also walked in honor of her late husband, Michael Carnell, highlighting the personal connections and the impact of the cause.
Looking Ahead
Spirit of a Hero aims to become an official stop on the national Carry the Load relay, complete with buses, media coverage, and the full experience to further their mission of raising awareness and honoring heroes.
Upcoming Events
Join the Spirit Squad team and join us at Riverchon Park 3505 Maple Ave Dallas, TX 75219 United States this weekend for the Memorial Day Carry the Load walk. Participants are invited to join at noon on Sunday, May 26, for a two-mile walk with over 5,000 participants. Later that night, there will be a gathering at 11:30 p.m. for a midnight seven-mile silent walk, offering a profoundly moving experience for all involved. lk.
Wrapping up
The community is encouraged to join in Dallas. While both events are impactful, the midnight walk offers a unique, unforgettable experience. Walking together in silence provides an opportunity to honor heroes and reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day.
